Biography

Homero is the Director of the Sta�s�cs Department at the Portuguese central bank. He has more than 20 years' experience working as central banker, having worked also for the Bank for Internacional Setlements (BIS), in Switzerland. Currently he represents Banco de Portugal at different European Central Bank forums, namely the Sta�s�cs Commitee. He is also the chairperson of the ESCB Program Steering Group of the Integrated Repor�ng Framework (IReF) project. At na�onal level, Homero is a member of the Sta�s�cs Council, the na�onal body that oversees and coordinates the Na�onal Sta�s�cal System, bringing together sta�s�cal and government authori�es, business representa�ves and academia. Prior to serving as Director, Homero was also responsible for the Monetary and Financial Sta�s�cs Division, where central bank balance sheet sta�s�cs are compiled for economic analysis purposes. Homero holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and a master’s degree on applied econometrics.
